10 Well-Paid Jobs for Teenagers

Teens are working at a younger age now than ever before. This is because the things they wish to buy are becoming more expensive. Allowances just aren’t enough for them to buy that new video game, or outfit. As a result, they need to go looking for jobs to pay for the things they want. It is important to get a job that can maximize the money earned for the time spent working. Here are 10 jobs teens can consider that pay well.

  1. Babysitting is a great job for teens that are looking for some extra spending money doing something they love. Usually babysitting is something only for teens that like kids, so it is a perfect fit when available. Ask your parents if any of their friends would be interested in their babysitting services.
  2. Pizza delivery can be a great opportunity for teens that have their driver’s license. The tips that come with delivering pizza can often surpass the hourly rate paid by the pizza parlour. This is a great way to save money for college or a car as well.
  3. Working for a supermarket as a cashier can be an excellent opportunity. This gives teens a change to make some money of their own while learning some skills that can help them progress through different departments of a supermarket. Grocery stores are complex businesses, the lessons learned there about customer service and preventing waste can help teens in future jobs.
  4. Similar to working as a cashier, being a sales associate for a retail chain or department store can be another way to get good experience while making decent pay. Sometimes sales associates can be promoted to assistant management, which can open doors for careers if a teen decides that is the direction they wish to go in.
  5. Landscaping can be a full year job that really pays well, if you are willing to go the extra mile and work hard for your money. Lawn care, snow and leaf removal are all easy things to sell to homeowners, as many people don’t like doing these things. It is important to work with an adult as a teen, so you are safe from any dangerous situations with unruly clients.
  6. Working at a beach or a public pool as a lifeguard is a good way to make money enjoying the weather. Teens who love spending time in the sun can use this outlet as a chance to get paid for something they love. A simple lifeguard course may be required, but it is not some grueling course that would hinder you from perusing a lifeguard position.
  7. Teens can also make money working with an advertising or sales agency by selling subscriptions to magazines and newspapers. This is often done on a door-to-door basis, and is definitely a good way to make a lot of money, if you are motivated and outgoing. Adult supervision is a must with this for obvious reasons.
  8. One of the more classic teen jobs is a paper route. This is something that can be done year round through a local newspaper. Usually the papers are delivered to your house a few hours before they need to be at each home, and you bring them to the subscribers on a daily basis. The tips for delivering newspapers can be a great way to make some extra cash.
  9. Coffee houses often have job openings for teens to be a barista or store clerk. This is a great way to make some money and gain valuable customer service skills.
  10. Last, but definitely not least, working as a waiter or waitress can be a very high paying job for teens. Depending on the restaurant, you can sometimes take home up to $100 a shift just in tips alone. This is also a great way to build customer service and memory skills. Not to mention a way to work on your balance.
